The Chamfer series is the first collaboration between Charly Cnops and David Braeckman (Ministry of Mass) consisting of 4 lighting objects: a floor lamp, a pendant lamp, a wall lamp and a desk lamp.
Presenting the first two pieces of the Chamfer series: the #desk and #floor lamp. The elemental symbiosis of technology, design and craft.
The objects embody the designer’s daring and contemporary take on light. Refining a lamp down to it’s most elemental form. With a strong (marble) base and minimal (aluminum) body. The sleek design combines the art of natural stone with the craft of hand-cranked metal.
Chamfer: a symmetrical sloping surface at an edge or corner. chăm′fər-
The base of the #desk lamp is made from fior di Bosco marble with it’s characteristic greyish iridescence.
The base of the #floor lamp is made from travertino rosso Travertine marble, with a porous surface with reddish glow.
Whereas the body is a hand-cranked aluminum tube with a high quality powdercoat finish. Integrated in a symmetrical form with innovative COB LED technology.
David and Charly playfully explore the contrast between natural materials, raw steel and limitless light. Resulting in an innovative, compelling and functional object with precise detailing and high quality finish.
